Web Development: Gill Tembo

The Objective

Create an online platform for upcoming writer Gill Tembo, in order to help assist with self-promotion.

The Solution

Gill asked me to design and build a website to act as a ‘shop front’ for her writing. She explicitly wanted blogging functionality, so that she could post regular updates on her progress, so I naturally turned to WordPress as the platform of choice, due to its super-user-friendly authoring tools.

We spoke at great length about the colours and styles she preferred, and I mocked up various look-and-feel designs (with good old-fashioned pen and paper no less!), and shortlisted a selection of fonts for the logo.

Once we’d hit on a final design, everything came together nice and quickly. The site is small, yet perfectly formed, and features prominent Facebook and Twitter integration throughout, in order to help encourage user interaction.

What They Say

I have worked with Gareth on the design and set up of a number of websites over the years, and have always found him to be a very creative, reliable, and tremendously knowledgeable person. He is able to translate the ideas of his clients, picking up on their vision of what they want to achieve to create an attractive, usable and professional web presence that would be the asset to any organisation or individual. He is flexible and sensitive to the needs of his clients, and at times very patient during the development stage. I would recommend him to anyone as a very clever, talented, and approachable web designer, and have in fact passed his name on to a number of friends wanting help with website design.
