I’m very excited about this one – I was very honoured to be asked to mix Snack Cube’s debut album, and even more excited now I’ve heard the tracks mastered! I spent a good amount of time towards the end of 2018 with Snack Cube at Freakyleaf HQ working on a sound for his tracks that satisfied both my needs for clarity and precision and his needs for a ‘homegrown’ and ‘organic’ vibe; we both collectively agreed that that what we came up with between us ticked all the boxes. The completed mixes were then passed over to Katie Tavini, …
Well that was loud! My ‘working week’ at SoundARC kicked of Friday afternoon with the return of the ever-lovely Harry Wade and Kayleigh Moss, to finish off their latest EP. A few mix tweaks here and there and then a mastering session brought many hours of work nicely to a close. Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday saw the return of hard-rock four-piece Rough Justice. Adding two tracks (‘Dirt’ and ‘Where We Began’) to their as-yet-untitled album, the boys were sounding as heavy as ever. All that remains now is for me to master. Roy Lendor popped in Monday to continue …
As a rule of thumb I tend not to call my clients ejits, but on this occasion I’m going to make an exception! After the success of ‘The Reunion Song‘, I was thrilled that 80’s British street punk band The Feckin Ejits wanted to record their (long time coming!) debut album ‘Off The Feckin Head’ at SoundARC Recording Studios with me behind the desk. Anyone who’s been in the studio will know that five days isn’t a great deal of time, but we worked fast, tracking twelve songs in two days, recording guitar and vocal overdubs on the third, and …
Just finished a busy four day recording and mixing stint at SoundARC, with a real mixed bag of musical projects. Friday morning saw Roy Lendor return to continue work on his début RnB/pop-tinged album. We’re just over half way through the mixing process now, and things are sounding really sweet. Friday afternoon saw Ben Drake pop in to track bass, lead guitar and keys to his soon-to-be-released single titled ‘Forever’. Got a little bit of editing to do now before we can track vocals, which are currently pencilled in to be tracked in a couple of weeks. Sunday was a …
The last three days over at SoundARC have been eclectic to say the least! Friday kicked off with RnB/pop crossover Roy Lendor laying down the vocals to his track entitled ‘Happy’. We then had Ben Toyer (A.K.A ‘MC T’) pop down in the evening to finish off his latest DnB set; everything is sounding nice and tight, although I may have overcooked the mastering a little! Note to self: Never attempt to master last thing on a Friday night! Saturday saw the return of ‘The Feckin Ejits’, continuing where we left off last weekend, with another session of old-school British …
Wow! What just happened?! The last four days have all been a bit of a blur to be honest! Thursday saw the return of Ben Drake to SoundARC, laying down the remaining lead vocals and guitar to his second album. It’s all coming together very nicely; I’ve just got a small mountain of editing to do now before we start mixing! Friday and Sunday saw ‘Standard’ recording sessions, with indie rockers ‘Relights’, and rock covers band ‘Los Cajones’ respectively. Both bands managed to lay down an impressive four tracks in the six hours allocated – pretty good going by anyone’s …
