    Weekends off and public holidays are a rarity for a sound engineer. We’re always required to work when everyone else isn’t, and this Easter was no exception! The first was with Joe Dunne and friends. Joe has written a number of songs that he intends to get a whole host of musicians down into the studio to help realise. Saturday saw two of the ‘folkier’ tracks get laid down, with the help of folk trio Ragged Staff. We tracked acoustic guitar, mandola, hammered dulcimer, and vocals, which all went nice and easy.   2. A Recording Surprise

    The last two days have been spent knee-deep in edits (metaphorically speaking of course; I was working purely in the digital domain!). Now a good way into recording his second album with us, Ben Drake has spent a great deal of time tracking recently, so I’ve currently got a massive backlog of editing work, some of which I managed to get through. Yesterday afternoon however, I took an hour out to record Caroline Riches (from ‘Ragged Staff’) a fiddle, and – to my surprise – a dulcimer, for a folk track, titled ‘I Lay Stretched On Your Grave’.
